Highland agroforestry system

The Sembalun project is envisioned as a highland agroforestry system, integrating Arabica coffee with shade trees and native vegetation to:

• Protect fragile mountain ecosystems
• Prevent soil erosion
• Improve long-term soil fertility
• Increase above- and below-ground carbon stocks

With its elevation, tree cover, and perennial crops, the project holds strong potential for future carbon credit development under nature-based solutions frameworks.
